Build a Business Website with AI, Keep Control

A practical workflow for using AI from website brief and design direction through source control, deployment, and improvement.

Key takeaways

  • A strong brief is more important than a clever generation prompt.
  • Review message hierarchy before visual polish.
  • Keep the code in source control.
  • Deployment is the start of verification, not the end.

Start with the business decision

Before choosing a template, decide what the website must help a specific visitor understand or do. Define the audience, the expensive problem, the promise, the evidence available, the primary action, and the pages required to support that decision.

An AI builder cannot resolve positioning that the business has not chosen. It can help expose the missing decisions and turn an agreed direction into a structured first version.

Specify the visual system as constraints

Choose the layout density, palette, accent behavior, typography roles, section rhythm, imagery direction, and logo treatment. Constraints create coherence. Endless generative options usually create a page that looks assembled rather than designed.

Review accessibility and responsive behavior early. A direction that works only in a desktop screenshot is not a finished design system.

Review in the right order

First inspect the page goal and information hierarchy. Then check the claim quality, calls to action, navigation, and page-to-page journey. Only then spend time on spacing, decoration, and micro-interactions.

This order prevents teams from polishing a page whose argument is still unclear.

  • Can a new visitor explain the product?
  • Does each section advance the decision?
  • Are claims specific and supportable?
  • Is the next action obvious?

Keep delivery governed

Place generated code in GitHub, review meaningful changes, and deploy through the same controlled path as other product work. After deployment, inspect the live page, metadata, crawlability, performance, and conversion path.

DruidX connects design configuration, preview and refinement, GitHub, Vercel, domain setup, and follow-on website audits in one workspace.
