AI Website Audit Checklist for Small Businesses

A prioritized website audit checklist covering message clarity, conversion paths, search visibility, implementation, and verification.

Key takeaways

  • Audit by user and business impact, not issue count.
  • Separate content, UX, technical, and trust findings.
  • Attach evidence to every recommendation.
  • Recheck the live site after the fix ships.

1. Message and conversion

Read the page without internal company context. The hero should identify the outcome, the audience or situation, and the next action. Each following section should answer a question the buyer needs resolved.

Check whether the navigation reflects the current product, whether calls to action lead somewhere useful, and whether pricing and feature language agree across pages.

  • Clear H1 and supporting promise
  • One primary action per page
  • Specific product evidence
  • Consistent plan and feature names

2. Search and information architecture

Confirm that important intents have dedicated, substantial pages and that the navigation links to them with descriptive text. Check unique titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, one clear H1, useful headings, internal links, and indexable body copy.

A sitemap should include canonical public pages with honest last-modified dates. Robots rules should protect private app areas without blocking public resources required for rendering.

3. Implementation and experience

Inspect mobile layout, keyboard access, contrast, form labels, image dimensions, link behavior, error states, and page speed. Look for broken routes and heavy client-side rendering that hides primary content until JavaScript runs.

Prioritize issues that block comprehension, completion, crawling, or trust before cosmetic inconsistency.

4. Fix and verify

A recommendation becomes valuable when it reaches the live site. Connect the finding to a specific change, review the patch, check tests and deployment, then inspect the live URL and repeat the relevant audit step.

Keep before-and-after evidence with the project so the team knows what changed and whether it solved the intended problem.

How DruidX supports the workflow

Put the method into a business-aware workspace.

Keep the goal, agent team, source context, approval points, project history, and finished deliverable connected instead of rebuilding the process across separate tools.
