Scope the decision before the search
A research task should name the decision, audience, time horizon, geography, constraints, and required output. “Research competitors” creates an endless collection task. “Identify the three positioning gaps a small-business CRM could credibly own in India over the next year” is bounded and evaluable.
List known assumptions and questions that need clarification before the run expands.
